#editmechallenge - Week 23

Welcome back to another week of editing fun!

Allow me to introduce our guest judge for the week! Wendy Wright is a writer, photographer, homeschooling mom, and a Disneyland nut who is learning to let go of heartache and pain while learning to dance in the rain. She started Sunflowers Photography in May 2010 and features her pictures on Choosing Love and Arizona Moms Network. Foto Friday is a brand new link up to showcase your favorite photo of the week. All levels of photography are welcome! Be sure to take a moment to thank Wendy for judging this week on Twitter and Facebook!

The photo she is sharing is from a trip to Disneyland in October 2009 where her sons, dressed as Captain Hook and Peter Pan met Tinkerbell. This is the kind of photo we can really have fun with, so I can't wait to see some creativity this week!

This challenge is all about taking a photo and making it your own with the editing program of your choice! It is also about learning a little bit from each other, and exploring new styles! There are no restrictions (unless specifically stated within the post for the week), but we do ask that you share a little bit about how you arrived at your finished product.

Here are the details:

1. When you link up, please use your edited photo as the thumbnail!
2. If you use the mouseover code or right-click protect your images, you need to either add a copy to the flickr pool (preferred) or it will be assumed that you agree to allow us to use a screenshot of your entry if you are a winner!
3. The judge for the week will choose the top 3 edits from the entries, and the overall winner of the 3 
4. If you would like to post multiple edits, specify which one is your choice for judging. Only one photo is eligible for judging, and it must be clear which one you are entering.
5. Don't forget so share your editing steps, or some tips and tricks so we can learn from each other!
6. Don't forget to use the #editmechallenge tag when you share your posts on Twitter. 
7. The linky will open at the time of the post on Wednesday, and close the following Saturday at 11:59 PM (central time).
8. Winners will be announced the following Tuesday.
9. Don't forget to visit the other participants, and leave some comment love! As usual, the more you participate the more feedback you will get!

I think this first Edit Me at our new site has been a HUGE success! So happy just to have everything happening in one convenient spot.  Continue to use the new flickr pool whenever possible. It makes things super easy for the judge and everybody wanting to check out the variety of edits, and don't forget to be tweeting your entries with the hashtag: #editmechallenge! This week's guest judge was Kristi from Live and Love out Loud. The original photo she provided is of her gorgeous daughter, and there was no doubt that you would all deliver an array of incredible possibilities. Let’s face it, you really can’t go wrong with such a great model! I don’t envy Kristi’s position to have to choose, but she managed to do it.

One of the things I love about Sarah's editing style is that she knows how to make eyes POP! She certainly worked her eye popping magic in this sepia edit. Great work!

 

Jenn of Mama Schell Says

Jenn's black and white edit is clean and simple. Some features are often lost during the black and white conversion (lips can often appear too light or pale), but Jenn did a great job with this. The subject's lips still have an air of drama to them. And her eyes? They're pulling me in!

 

And . . . Overall winner: Dawn of Simply You, Simply Me.

Teenage acne and dark under eye circles can certainly be a challenge during the editing process, but Dawn nailed it! The subject's skin looks beautiful; so smooth and luminous. And? Dawn made it look ridiculously effortless.

We are so excited to have you here for the very first challenge in our brand new blog home! Welcome!

Hello there, friends! We are so glad you have come to join us in the brand new home of the Edit Me challenge! If you are new to the challenge, here is how it works:

Each week a fabulous guest judge provides an unedited photo, and invites you to take it and make it your own! You can use any editing program you choose. It is all about having fun and giving the photo your own style. You can use effects, textures, frames... or choose to do an amazing clean edit and keep it simple! The beauty of the challenge is that no two edits are identical, and we all get a chance to learn from each other! At the end of the challenge, the guest judge chooses their favorite edits, and occasionally we get to throw in a prize for our winner!

This challenge will be in it's 22nd week when it resumes here on the new blog next Wednesday! If you would like to check out some past challenges, you can find them here. Branson has been running the challenge since she first took the reigns from the lovely Ashley earlier this year. Here is a little bit about her:

I am the wife of a super-tall guy with a huge heart, a mama to one very sweet little mop-top boy, and an aunt to many. That's my day job! I am a child of God, and a stubborn one at that, who is constantly re-learning the amazing promises that my Heavenly Father has laid out for me. I have a love for photography, and creating art through editing is my passion... that is why I love this challenge so much! I recently closed my blog in a search for balance, but I am still a tweet-a-holic, and an avid emailer (beware, I tend to write novels in my replies) so you will see me here and there in the online world!

Kathryn joined the Edit Me team a couple months ago, and has been an amazing partner! She is the one who designed our fabulous new header and buttons, and always breathes fun and energy into our winner posts. Here is a little bit about her:

My name is Kathryn Adams. I blog. I have a love affair with my vacuum cleaner, and I think coffee is one of God’s greatest gifts. I am the mother of two — Banana and Moose {a.k.a. Anna and Madison}. They are everything I want to be when I grow up: funny, creative, smart, kind, compassionate and forgiving. The forgiving part is crucial, ‘cause sometimes I’m the mom who forgets to pack their lunch or turn in field trip permission slips or sign their homework.
Luckily, I’m married to a forgiving husband, too, ‘cause sometimes I’m the wife who is too busy posting on her blog to cook dinner or who decided to spend the day playing in Lightroom instead of doing laundry. If you get me started on my Nikon, I’ll go on ALL day.
