Edit Me 2012 - Week 9

First things first, thank you so much to those of you who responded to my request for a new co-host. I really appreciate the support, and will definitely keep each of you in mind for future projects, vacations, etc! I did indeed find a new co-host, and I am excited to introduce her this week! She is someone who has been an active participant in this challenge since the early days. In fact she recently had a baby, and one of her very first posts back was an Edit Me post (an edit of my photo, actually) and I couldn't help but smile at how quickly she jumped back in! So... I will quit rambling on and introduce her!

Hi, I’m Stephanie. I am an almost thirty full-time working new mommy with a photography habit…okay addiction. I blog over at Behind the Camera and Dreaming, try to support my addiction with Gray Mornings Photography and enjoy my offline life in Jackson, Mississippi.

I am ECSTATIC to be joining Branson as co-host! I have enjoyed this challenge for a while now and really feel like I've connected with so many of the participants! There is much to learn in the editing world and I love seeing the unique perspective each participant brings. I hope to gain more knowledge from you and share a little of what I've learned along the way. It’s great to be here and I hope to get to know all of you a little better! You can find me blogging, tweeting, facebooking, pinning, and instagraming.

Stephanie is going to judge this week's challenge, and we thought that there was no better way for you to get to know her than to edit a photo of her adorable little man! So, she has given us a photo of Jonah... we can't wait to see what you do with it!

This challenge is all about taking a photo and making it your own with the editing program of your choice! It is also about learning a little bit from each other, and exploring new styles! There are no restrictions (unless specifically stated within the post for the week), but we do ask that you share a little bit about how you arrived at your finished product.

Here are the details:
  1. When you link up, please use your edited photo as the thumbnail!
  2. If you use the mouseover code or right-click protect your images, you need to either add a copy to the flickr pool (preferred) or it will be assumed that you agree to allow us to use a screenshot of your entry if you are a winner!
  3. The judge for the week will choose the top 3 edits from the entries, and the overall winner of the 3
  4. If you would like to post multiple edits, specify which one is your choice for judging. Only one photo is eligible for judging, and it must be clear which one you are entering.
  5. Don't forget so share your editing steps, or some tips and tricks so we can learn from each other!
  6. Don't forget to use the #editmechallenge tag when you share your posts on Twitter.
  7. The linky will open at the time of the post on Wednesday, and close the following Saturday at 11:59 PM (central time).

Edit Me 2012 - Week 8 Winners!

A big thank you to all of the amazing entries in this week's challenge! You have all been blowing us away week after week with your creativity and skill. I love it! Now for a refresher on our guest judge, Bree from His Honey & Her Mommy. Here is a little bit more about her:

bree his honey and her mama My name is Bree. I am a 30 something working mommy of a 2 ½ little girl and a wife to an amazing husband. I have lived in Utah all my life. I have a passion for photography. On the side I have recently been taking family pictures and portraits. I love learning new things and practicing. It s rare to see me without my camera. I also LOVE decorating my home, gardening, crafting, camping, rock crawling, and 4 wheeling. I also LOVE to travel and have big plans on making sure my little girl gets some of that under her belt. I despise laundry.

Be sure to thank Bree for joining us as a judge this week! Like all of our judges, Bree found this decision very hard! However, she finally narrowed it down to the following winners:

Jennifer @ Fotoplicity
love how simple she kept it with giving it a much softer feel.

loved the brushed effect she added, it is beautiful!

The overall winner:

Loved the tones, she was able to make this picture her own. The frame definitely added the final touch. I love it.

Congratulations to our winners!
Don't forget to grab your winner badges from the sidebar.
A new challenge starts tomorrow!!

oh wait...
Y'all know how I am always a stickler about not allowing more than 3 winners? Well, Bree's little girl wanted to give a shout-out to her favorite, and how could I resist that? So an honorable mention from the photo subject goes to Squishydoo Photography (Bree says: Seriously, she went bananas when she saw this. What a lovely & fun edit. Addison loves Tinkerbelle, and she thought this was amazing!)

Winners - Week 7

We had amazing edits this week, and I am excited to announce our winners! First, though, a refresher on our guest judge for the week. This week's judge is the amazing Rosie of Leavesnbloom Studio

About Rosie Leavesnbloom

Be sure to visit Rosie on Twitter and Facebook, and thank her for judging! While you are at it, check out her lovely weekly photo challenge: Color Me Weekly. The photo she gave us this week was of a "scottish castle on a frosty morning at sunrise with the sheep huddled up around the old stone walls"...

And here is what Rosie had to say about each of her choices:

I really hope you enjoyed having a little glimpse of 'my world' as I'm sure that it's not every day you get to edit a photograph like this. Can I just say that I had such a difficult time choosing my three favourite edits this week as there were many that I would love to mention in this post for their creativity.  So many were similar aswell which made it all the harder as I think many of you know my editing style and knew just what I like to enhance in my photographs.  Thanks to everyone for joining in and sharing your workflows and I'm sure I'm not the only one who picked up a few tips along the way too.

Here are my three favourite edits:

I had to take a 2nd and a 3rd look at Amanda's image from Seeing Beauty By Amanda -  is that one of my edits?
I love how she edited the shot with that crop as the stone wall now is running along the lower grid of the rule of thirds.  Amanda like some others also kept the scene looking so natural and just enhanced what was already there ever so slightly with her saturation levels.  There was just that hint of blue in the edit that really made it feel like it was a crisp and very cold 8 am one December morning (which it was by the way).

I then noticed a trend with many of the edits as many of you went with a vintage look.  It wasn't easy to pick this one either as many were very similar but what did it for me was Kaylene's from L'Instant.
I like how Kaylene kept the pinkish hues from the original image in the sky and how she cropped the image so that some of the trees and hedgerows were still in the picture as these were good leading lines to draw the viewer up to the castle.......... straight out of a history book so to speak!

My final choice is the overall winner of Edit Me this week and I've got to tell you that my heart jumped a beat or two when I saw this edit from Cathy at A bit of this & a Bit of That.

I just loved the painterly quality to the image and the brightness and the warmth that Cathy created.  This edit is truely wall and frame worthy...........I just wish this was one of my edited shots!

Congratulations to our winners!

A new challenge starts tomorrow!!

Edit Me 2012 - Week 7

Welcome to a fresh new week of the Edit Me Challenge! We have a wonderful photo this week, but before we get to that just a couple things. I apologize for not making it around to comment as much lately. I have been enjoying your edits, but things are a little crazy so I don't always get to comment. This week I should be back to business as usual, though! Also, I am currently looking for a new co-host. The lovely Sarah was kind enough to take my place in co-hosting the Tutorial Tuesday Challenge, so she won't be co-hosting here anymore. If you are interested in helping out, let me know! Now then, on with the show...

Winners - Week 6

Are you ready to see this week's WINNERS? Our guest judge for the week ws Selena from Stoneyville and Selena Stoney Photography. Be sure to visit Selena on Twitter and Facebook, and thank her for providing us with this awesome photo! Here is a little bit more about her:

Hi, I am Selena. I am a 30 something wife, mother and photographer. I have always loved taking photos but when I was pregnant with my daughter Addison it became a major passion in my life. Wanting to take better photos of her pushed me to learn and grow as a photographer and this past year I started my own photography business. It has been wonderful so far!

We edited a photo from her first wedding shoot, and you guys did a great job! Here are the winners Selena chose!

Selena said: "Gosh this week was hard everyones edits were so creative and just overall really great! I took a while going back and forth over everyones edits and these are my top picks. Thank you to everyone that took the time to edit my photo!"

Pam @ Kassie's Beach: I love this b&w edit, I love the contrast, and I don't usually go so high with my contrast but I really liked how this one came out, great job!

Sarah @ The Stiles Files: I really like the soft tone of this edit and the slightly ink undertone, I think it really brings out the setting and highlights the couple! Beautiful.

And my OVERALL WINNER:

Heather @ A Day in the Life of a SAHM: This edit jumped out at me the first time I saw it and I just kept coming back to it. I love the depth that the texture added to the photo and the edit is spot on! Plus she left the sunflare which I was might fond of! Really lovely edit!

Congratulations to our winners! Don't forget to grab your winner badges from the sidebar. A new challenge starts first thing tomorrow!! We are editing another amazing photo, and I am dying to see what you come up with this week!

Winners! - Week #5

Here is a little refresher about our lovely guest judge, Linda from Coach House Crafting. Be sure to visit Linda on Twitter and Facebook, and thank her for providing us with this awesome photo! Here is a little bit more about her:

Hey there! I'm Linda, 40 year old mum to 21 year old twin girls and married to my soul mate (corny I know) Wayne for almost 22 years. My relatively new blog is Coach House crafting (on a budget) and has mainly focused on my furniture makeover projects for our new home, however that will change this year. I regularly enter the Edit Me challenges and this has made me more determined to reaquaint myself with my DSLR this year and spend more time on photography.

And here is what she had to say about her winners:

Wowsa that was really hard! I was stunned by the amount of people actually taking time out to edit my little image. There wasn't one edit that I didn't like as they all offered something unique or different - how am I supposed to pick just 3!

I've spent ages going over each and every one of them and I've finally decided on my final 3 but first I want to thank everyone for taking the time to edit the image and of course Thank you to Branson and Sarah for hosting this challenge and giving me the chance to submit an image.

Third winner: 'A bit of this and a bit of that' - As soon as I saw this edit I loved it. I really like the use of texture and the dreamy, soft feel that's been achieved. It looks so warm and inviting.

Second Winner: Rosie @ 'Leavesnbloom studio' - I was astounded with what Rosie did with her edit. She perfected the whole image by adding skyline, drawing the eye to the harbour and cloning out the second boat, plus even gave a super tutorial on the rule of two thirds using the image. She really did perfect the scene.

First Winner: Diane @ 'Butterflies in time' - The minute I saw this I knew it was a winner and it kept on drawing me back.  I love the saturation and the exposure, plus the vibrancy and detail Diane has produced is stunning. It's suddenly a place that looks so much more inviting.  All that with no cropping and cloning - a sure winner for me!

Congratulations to our Winners! Be sure to grab your winner buttons.

A new challenge begins tomorrow!
